Foriegn Policy: The foreign policy of Progressive Conservatives is based on the belief that by developing alternative sources of energy, mainly wind, solar, and geo-themal, the U.S. can revolutionize the conduct of international relations by decreasing the sources of conflict inherent in the need for large economies to secure carbon-based energy. We believe that the 700+ Billion dollars sent overseas to buy foreign oil would be better spent at home to develop Wind, Geo-thermal and Solar energy farms.
Energy Policy: As discussed above, the United States must eliminate its dependence on foreign oil. We must immediatly support the development of a new electricity infrastructure to support the development of an electric automobile industry. Although further research is needed, we believe it may be necessary, (as the "Pickens Plan" dictates), for us to rely on our natural gas reserves until the US can be fully dependent on it alternative energy platform.
Social Policy: Progressive Conservatives are personally against abortion, although we do not believe overturning Roe vs Wade should be the main plank of our platform. We are committed to supporting programs aimed at reducing the incidence of abortion, namely those that rely on providing welfare, educational programs and support to at-risk mothers. Progressive Conservatives also support educational programs aimed at training a 21st Century workforce capable of providing the innovation and strategic thinking necessary to support small business creation.
Financial Regulation: Progressive Conservatives are commited to a free-market capitalist system, but a capitalist system that is subject to REGULATION. We realize, (as apparently does Alan Greenspan now), that financial systems are unable to regulate themselves, and must be subject to moderate amounts of oversight if they are to be prevented from destroying our capitalist way of life. We don't believe that the government should be over-zealous in its regulation of the financial industry, but are committed to reaching a regulatory partnership with the private sector that is acceptable to both parties.
